BlueWorx is seeking a motivated Valve Repair Technician Trainee to join a growing industrial service team in Oklahoma City. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to build a career in valve testing, repair, and maintenance while receiving hands-on training in both shop and field environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to travel as needed while supporting repair and testing operations for industrial relief valves.


Position Overview

The Valve Repair Technician Trainee assists the Valve Repair Department in all aspects of testing, repairing, and maintaining relief valves in both shop and field environments. This position involves mechanical repair work, equipment maintenance, documentation, and customer interaction while working toward completion of specialized valve repair training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with disassembly and reassembly of relief valves
  • Perform sandblasting and valve cleaning operations
  • Inspect valves and components for wear, damage, and repair needs
  • Properly document testing, repair activities, and valve nameplate information
  • Support valve testing and repair processes under supervision
  • Perform re-machining and lapping operations as required
  • Assist with shop maintenance and housekeeping activities
  • Travel with mobile service units to customer locations
  • Maintain professional customer interactions at all times
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary
  • Participate in and complete required training programs

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial valve repair
  • Ability to complete Mercer’s Training Program
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Professional attitude and strong work ethic
  • Leadership potential preferred
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to learn repair procedures for spring-loaded relief valves
  • Ability to develop working knowledge of pilot-operated relief valves
  • Capability to perform sandblasting, cleaning, inspection, disassembly, re-machining, and lapping procedures
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to accurately complete repair and testing documentation
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and structures up to 100 feet
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the shift
  • Ability to physically and medically wear a respirator when required
  • Ability to work in varying weather and industrial conditions
  • Ability to travel up to two weeks per month

  • Industrial shop and field service environment
  • Exposure to machinery, industrial equipment, dust, and noise
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors at customer facilities
  • Frequent travel to customer sites and industrial locations
