BlueWorx Staffing is seeking an experienced PLC Controls Technician to join a growing industrial manufacturing team in Oklahoma City. This position is ideal for a skilled technician with experience programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated manufacturing equipment.

The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial control systems, PLC and HMI programming, and electrical troubleshooting while ensuring automated equipment operates safely and efficiently.


Position Overview

The PLC Controls Technician is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial control systems and automated machinery. This position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring automated systems operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, test, and debug PLC and HMI programs to ensure reliable machine operation
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and control system issues, including sensors, actuators, and motors
  • Create control systems, electrical schematics, and panel layouts for new machinery
  • Install new automated equipment and perform routine maintenance on existing systems
  • Update PLC and HMI software as required
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints
  • Work with operators to improve automation processes and increase productivity
  • Maintain technical manuals, software specifications, and validation documentation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (typically 3-5+ years) as a Controls Technician in an industrial or commercial environment
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing control systems
  • Basic understanding of industrial networking protocols, including BACnet, TCP/IP, and Modbus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Electrical maintenance certification or completion of an apprenticeship preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and P&ID drawings
  • Experience programming, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC and HMI software
  • Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, calibrators, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NEC, and electrical safety standards
