Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime as needed

BlueWorx is seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on pipe welding experience and be able to successfully pass a 6G stick pipe welding test on 2-1/2" XXH pipe. This role is critical to maintaining the quality, safety, and structural integrity of our manufactured products.

Position Overview
The Welder will be responsible for performing high-quality welds on pipe and structural components in accordance with established procedures and industry codes. This position requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to consistently produce welds that meet strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW (stick) welding on pipe in the 6G position
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work orders to determine specifications
  • Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently
    • Select appropriate electrodes, voltage, and amperage for the job
    • Adjust equipment settings based on material thickness and joint type
  • Fit, align, and tack-weld pipe and components prior to final welding
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality, size, and strength specifications
  • Perform minor repairs and rework as needed to correct defects
  • Maintain and clean welding equipment and work area
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Collaborate with fabricators, fitters, and quality control personnel
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation

Qualifications

  • Must pass a 6G stick pipe welding test on 2-1/2" XXH pipe as a condition of employment
  • Minimum of 2 years of pipe welding experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial fabrication environment preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Ability to weld in multiple positions, including 6G (fixed pipe)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of shop safety practices and procedures

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions
  • Manual dexterity and good vision (with or without correction) for detailed welding work
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including welding hood, gloves, and protective clothing, for extended periods

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/fabrication shop setting
  • Exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and bright light from welding equipment
  • Some exposure to outdoor conditions may be required depending on project needs
  • Fast-paced production environment with a focus on safety and quality
