Quality Control Technician – Welding
Location: Tulsa, OK
Pay: $28.00+/hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician with a strong background in welding and fabrication to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring welded products meet company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable welding codes through detailed inspections and documentation. The ideal candidate has experience inspecting welds, interpreting fabrication drawings, and working closely with production to maintain the highest level of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections on welded assemblies and fabricated components.
- Conduct visual weld inspections to verify weld quality, appearance, and compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
- Inspect weld size, fit-up, joint preparation, and overall workmanship throughout the fabrication process.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials, welds, or finished products.
- Work closely with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and engineering to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards before shipment.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout production.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in a welding or fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Flux Core, and Stick welding.
- Experience inspecting structural steel, pressure vessels, pipe, or other fabricated weldments is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedures.
- Knowledge of AWS welding standards and common welding inspection practices preferred.
- Proficient in using precision measuring and inspection tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production teams.
