2nd Shift Supervisor
Pay: $30-35 hour
Shift: 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. (Overtime Required)

Professional Summary of Shift Supervisor
The Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in managing daily shop-floor operations and ensuring production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and with a high degree of quality. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for directing daily workflow, developing team accountability, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring a structured handoff to second shift for operational continuity.
Responsibilities of Shift Supervisor
Safety Leadership
- Champion a safety-first culture and complete 30+ safety observations per month
- Lead daily pre-shift meetings to communicate safety topics, goals, and expectations
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies
Production & Operations Management
- Oversee daily shop-floor operations, ensuring schedule adherence, production accuracy, and on-time completion
- Assign work, adjust priorities, and monitor key production KPIs including output, scrap, rework, and labor utilization
- Ensure equipment reliability, support inventory accuracy, and validate scrap
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to reduce downtime and improve production performance
- Properly delegate responsibilities throughout the day and provide a structured handoff to second shift
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise welders, fabricators, painters, and general labor personnel
- Train and cross-train employees to build team flexibility and redundancy
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed
- Support hiring, onboarding, and employee accountability within a performance-driven culture
Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices
- Support operational and process improvement initiatives
- Lead root-cause problem solving and proactively resolve shop-floor issues
Qualifications of Shift Supervisor
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical assembly
- 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong knowledge of production, safety, and quality processes
- Ability to manage shop-floor teams and interpret blueprints and work orders
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities under pressure
- Detail-oriented, organized, and safety-focused
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work directly from the production floor
- Ability to work overtime as needed based on production demands
Preferred Experience Shift Supervisor
- Experience with ASME pressure vessel or HVAC equipment manufacturing
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles
- Forklift certification or experience overseeing powered industrial trucks
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
