BlueWorx is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist for a precision manufacturing opportunity in Oklahoma City. This position is ideal for a skilled machinist who can perform their own setups, work from blueprints, and produce tight-tolerance components using manual machining equipment.
Experience in oilfield, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
Position Overview
The Manual Machinist will set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and related machine tools to manufacture and repair precision components. Candidates must be capable of working independently from drawings and specifications while maintaining high standards for accuracy, productivity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes and mills
- Machine parts to specified dimensions and tight tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machining specifications
- Determine proper tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences
- Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, and related machining operations
- Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Inspect completed parts to verify dimensional accuracy and quality
- Perform machine setups and adjustments independently
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in clean and safe condition
- Follow established safety procedures and quality requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of manual machining experience preferred
- Strong experience operating manual lathes and/or mills
- Ability to perform complete machine setups independently
- Strong blueprint-reading skills
- Experience machining parts to tight tolerances
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Strong understanding of shop math, measurements, and machining fundamentals
- Oilfield machining experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Dependable attendance and commitment to quality workmanship
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working around machine tools, metal chips, cutting fluids, and industrial equipment
