BlueWorx is seeking an experienced Service Technician for an automotive manufacturing operation in Oklahoma City. This position focuses on transmission and powertrain diagnostics, failure analysis, warranty investigations, and root cause analysis.

The ideal candidate has hands-on automotive repair experience and is comfortable diagnosing complex transmission or engine failures, inspecting components, performing testing, and documenting technical findings.

Position Overview

The Service Technician will analyze warranty returns and production transmission assemblies to determine the cause of failures. This position works closely with quality, engineering, and production teams to identify root causes, document findings, and support corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed root cause analysis on failed transmissions, powertrain assemblies, and components
  • Disassemble and inspect returned warranty and production assemblies
  • Analyze components and transmission fluids to identify potential failure causes
  • Diagnose transmission, engine, and powertrain-related concerns
  • Perform testing on finished assemblies, subassemblies, and individual components
  • Replicate reported failures or customer complaints to confirm root causes
  • Replace transmissions, engines, subassemblies, and components in vehicles as required
  • Evaluate failure symptoms and determine the primary cause of the issue
  • Provide recommendations regarding failure responsibility and warranty claims
  • Document findings in standardized technical reports
  • Communicate technical findings to quality engineers, production teams, and other internal personnel
  • Support containment and corrective-action efforts
  • Ensure approved repairs are properly re-qualified before final testing
  • Read and interpret component and assembly drawings
  • Follow established operational procedures, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Maintain compliance with applicable IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Maintain an organized work environment according to 5S standards

Qualifications

  • Technical school training in transmission, powertrain, automotive technology, or a related field, OR
  • Significant hands-on experience in automotive maintenance and repair
  • 3+ years of automotive repair experience strongly preferred
  • Experience diagnosing transmissions, engines, or powertrain systems preferred
  • Ability to read and understand component and assembly drawings
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and standardized work procedures
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Valid driver's license required with the ability to operate customer or company vehicles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current ASE A1 Engine Repair and/or A2 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle certification
  • Vocational or technical school automotive training
  • Experience with automotive warranty or failure analysis
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience performing transmission teardown and component inspection
  • Manufacturing or automotive production experience
  • Familiarity with structured root cause and corrective-action processes
