Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift

  • Day Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday, 6:00 AM–3:30 PM; Saturdays as required, 6:00 AM–11:00 AM
  • Night Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM–2:30 AM; Friday, 4:00 PM–1:30 AM; Saturdays as required, 4:00 PM–9:00 PM

Professional Summary of Class A Fitter Welder

Blueworx Staffing is seeking an experienced Class A Fitter Welder to join a manufacturing and fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret fabrication drawings, accurately fit and align assemblies, and complete projects with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, precision layout skills, and excellent fit-up techniques are essential for maintaining quality and reducing rework.

Responsibilities of Class A Fitter Welder

  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Select and verify materials before beginning fabrication.
  • Perform accurate measurements, layouts, dimensional calculations, and degree locations.
  • Cut, bevel, grind, and prepare pipe, plate, and structural steel for fabrication.
  • Fit, align, and tack weld components according to required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Set up fixtures, clamps, and lifting equipment as needed.
  • Inspect assemblies for proper dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up.
  • Identify and correct potential fit-up issues before final welding.
  • Work with pipe, plate, structural steel, and miscellaneous fabricated components.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality standards and project specifications.

Qualifications of Class A Fitter Welder

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional fitter/welder experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, dimensions, tolerances, and fit-up requirements.
  • Experience with structural steel, pipe, plate, and industrial fabrication.
  • Ability to calculate and lay out angles and degrees on round components.
  • Proficiency with tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, grinders, torches, and other fabrication tools.
  • Ability to properly fixture and tack assemblies while controlling distortion.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience Class A Fitter Welder

  • Structural and industrial fabrication experience.
  • Pipe and vessel-related fabrication.
  • Experience working from detailed fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with multiple welding processes.
  • Formal welding or fabrication training and certifications.
  • Rigging and material-handling experience.
