Professional Summary of Warehouse & Materials Supervisor
The Warehouse & Materials Supervisor oversees the flow and control of materials throughout the facility, from receiving and inventory through production and final shipment. This role leads warehouse and shipping activities, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures production has the materials needed to meet project schedules.
Responsibilities of Warehouse & Materials Supervisor
- Direct and coordinate daily warehouse and shipping activities.
- Establish priorities based on production and shipping requirements.
- Oversee Shipping Lead and warehouse personnel.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate material records.
- Review Bills of Material (BOMs) against inventory to help allocate materials and reduce unnecessary purchasing.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Project Management, Quality, and Accounting to resolve material issues.
- Train employees on safe material handling, inventory procedures, documentation, and equipment operation.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching as needed.
- Coordinate freight for large, heavy, or oversized equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment.
- Ensure finished equipment is shipped safely and on schedule.
Qualifications of Warehouse & Materials Supervisor
- Previous warehouse, materials, shipping, or manufacturing supervision experience.
- Strong organizational and inventory-management skills.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a project-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating forklifts and material-handling equipment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.
- Experience with large or heavy manufactured equipment is preferred.
