BlueWorx is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control operations for a Tier 1 automotive supplier in West Point, GA.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive manufacturing quality, IATF 16949, customer quality requirements, corrective action processes, and quality management systems. This position requires a proven leader who can drive quality improvements, manage customer concerns, reduce defects, and ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet demanding automotive industry standards.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing plant quality performance, monitoring product and process quality, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
This individual will work closely with manufacturing leadership, engineering, and quality personnel to identify quality trends, resolve production issues, and establish preventive measures that improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
The position includes direct leadership of 2–3 employees and responsibility for departmental quality objectives, budgets, and performance metrics.
Lead plant-level quality assurance and quality control initiatives
Monitor product and process quality to ensure compliance with customer specifications
Review quality inspection results and identify trends requiring corrective action
Implement effective containment procedures to prevent defective products from reaching customers
Establish and maintain quality process controls throughout manufacturing operations
Ensure timely communication of quality concerns to production and management teams
Monitor cleanliness inspections and coordinate corrective actions for nonconformances
Track quality performance metrics and ensure departmental KPI targets are achieved
Support quality activities involving sample builds, engineering changes, and production process improvements
Maintain and support compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001
Support customer audits, including VDA audits
Develop, implement, and audit quality processes to meet customer requirements
Maintain effective quality management systems and documentation
Ensure quality procedures are consistently followed across production operations
Support internal and external quality audits
Promote preventive quality controls rather than relying solely on final inspection
Ensure adherence to established manufacturing quality and safety standards
Lead root-cause investigations involving internal defects and customer quality concerns
Implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions
Monitor corrective action effectiveness and prevent recurring issues
Coordinate resolution of customer complaints and field-return issues
Support corrective action processes involving transmission and powertrain components
Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve problems involving product design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production processes
Develop and maintain Cost of Quality tracking systems
Analyze quality data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
Support tracking of engineering changes and corrective action implementation
Supervise, coach, and develop quality department personnel
Provide leadership to 2–3 direct reports
Establish departmental objectives and performance expectations
Manage employee performance and professional development
Coordinate quality improvement initiatives with production and management teams
Develop and manage departmental budgets
Ensure departmental resources are utilized effectively
Communicate critical quality concerns and performance results to senior leadership
Promote accountability, teamwork, and a strong quality-focused culture
Maintain departmental security documentation and assets as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
Four-year degree or equivalent relevant work experience
Strong background in automotive manufacturing quality management
Experience working with Tier 1 automotive supplier quality requirements
Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems
Experience with customer quality audits and compliance requirements
Proven ability to lead corrective action and root-cause investigations
Experience with product and process quality monitoring
Knowledge of quality containment and defect prevention practices
Experience managing quality personnel and departmental performance
Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with manufacturing teams, customers, and executive leadership
Strong organizational, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
Experience managing departmental KPIs and quality performance objectives
Experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing
Background in transmission, powertrain, or automotive component manufacturing
Experience supporting OEM customer quality requirements
Familiarity with VDA audits
Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001
Experience developing and maintaining Cost of Quality systems
Strong background in customer complaint resolution and corrective action reporting
Experience implementing preventive quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
