BlueWorx is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanical Specialist to support equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility in West Point, GA.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial mechanical maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance, manufacturing equipment reliability, and process improvement.
This is a hands-on technical position requiring an individual who can diagnose complex equipment issues, implement corrective actions, coordinate maintenance projects, and support maintenance team development.
The Maintenance Mechanical Specialist will serve as a technical resource for manufacturing equipment maintenance, reliability improvements, and facility systems.
This individual will analyze equipment downtime, identify recurring mechanical and electrical issues, develop corrective actions, and support the implementation of maintenance improvements and capital projects.
The position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, the ability to work directly with manufacturing equipment, and experience supporting maintenance teams in a fast-paced production environment.
Serve as a technical expert for industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment
Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on production equipment
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Analyze equipment failures and develop corrective actions to prevent recurring downtime
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency
Review equipment downtime data and implement appropriate countermeasures
Maintain and update equipment and facility drawings
Support maintenance activities involving fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
Ensure preventive maintenance work orders are completed on schedule
Support weekend and scheduled shutdown maintenance activities as required
Evaluate and improve maintenance procedures and equipment performance
Analyze existing manufacturing processes and equipment for improvement opportunities
Lead assigned equipment improvement and maintenance projects
Work with equipment suppliers and contractors on equipment installations and modifications
Support capital improvement projects according to established schedules
Review equipment designs, tooling, and materials with vendors as needed
Develop solutions to improve equipment reliability and reduce production downtime
Support corrective actions involving internal quality concerns and customer-related issues
Prepare technical reports and presentations covering equipment improvements, corrective actions, and quality concerns
Support departmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel
Identify skill gaps and assist with employee development
Coordinate maintenance activities across assigned production areas
Support maintenance team members with complex equipment troubleshooting
Communicate equipment status, maintenance needs, and production concerns to management
Coordinate outside contractors performing maintenance, equipment installations, or modifications
Monitor maintenance performance metrics, including:
MTBF – Mean Time Between Failures
MTTR – Mean Time to Repair
Equipment downtime rates
Preventive maintenance completion
Support achievement of departmental maintenance KPIs
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and activity records
Follow all established safety policies and procedures
Demonstrate proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices and guide others in their application
Support compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
Maintain a safe, organized work environment following 5S principles
Identify and address equipment-related safety concerns
Ensure maintenance work meets established quality and safety requirements
Promote safe maintenance practices throughout production operations
High School Diploma or GED
Strong background in industrial mechanical maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems
Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical equipment failures
Experience analyzing equipment downtime and implementing corrective actions
Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, tooling, and mechanical systems
Ability to read, interpret, and update equipment drawings
Experience coordinating maintenance projects and equipment improvements
Strong understanding of LOTO procedures and industrial safety
Ability to work hands-on with manufacturing equipment
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance teams, production personnel, vendors, and management
Four-year degree or equivalent relevant technical work experience
Experience in automotive, powertrain, or high-volume manufacturing
Experience supporting equipment installations and capital improvement projects
Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
Experience with equipment reliability metrics, including MTBF and MTTR
Experience training and mentoring maintenance technicians
Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, tooling, and industrial equipment modifications
Experience working with outside equipment suppliers and maintenance contractors
Strong background in continuous improvement and manufacturing process optimization
