BlueWorx is seeking an experienced Assistant Quality Manager to oversee supplier quality performance, incoming inspection processes, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility in West Point, GA.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive supplier quality, IATF 16949, incoming quality control, corrective action processes, supplier performance management, and manufacturing quality systems.
This position requires a proven leader who can manage supplier quality concerns, analyze quality data, implement corrective actions, and lead a team of 3–5 direct reports.
The Assistant Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring incoming materials and components meet established quality requirements while driving improvements in supplier performance.
This individual will oversee incoming inspection activities, monitor supplier quality trends, coordinate corrective actions, and work closely with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to prevent defects and improve product reliability.
The position also includes responsibility for departmental budgets, quality performance metrics, supplier documentation, and customer-related quality concerns.
Oversee supplier quality activities and incoming inspection processes
Ensure incoming materials and components meet established quality specifications
Monitor internal and external quality issues and identify trends
Analyze quality data and require corrective action plans when necessary
Communicate quality concerns and inspection findings to suppliers
Track corrective actions and verify effectiveness
Support quality improvement initiatives
Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve defects
Implement preventive quality controls to reduce recurring issues
Maintain accurate quality records and documentation
Support compliance with IATF 16949 quality management requirements
Maintain quality procedures and processes that meet customer expectations
Support compliance with applicable ISO 45001 safety requirements
Develop, implement, and audit quality processes
Support quality assurance systems focused on defect prevention rather than inspection alone
Ensure established quality procedures are consistently followed
Promote safe work practices and maintain organized work areas following 5S principles
Assist with reviewing and tracking supplier ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Reports)
Support 4M change management activities
Coordinate engineering order (EO) and new CKD component sample requests
Track samples required for product approval and transmission-related quality evaluations
Arrange and schedule transmission durability testing
Maintain quality approval documentation
Monitor and report quality performance
Investigate product defects and manufacturing quality concerns
Analyze quality trends and implement corrective actions
Work with manufacturing teams to resolve issues involving product design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production processes
Coordinate corrective action activities related to customer complaints and field-return transmission issues
Develop and maintain Cost of Quality tracking systems for CKD supplier quality
Track and report CS10,000 and warranty claim information
Monitor corrective action effectiveness and recurring quality issues
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and product reliability
Supervise and develop 3–5 direct reports
Establish departmental quality goals and performance expectations
Monitor monthly quality KPIs and implement improvements when targets are not achieved
Develop and manage departmental budgets
Maintain accountability for departmental expenditures
Coach and mentor employees to improve performance and technical capabilities
Coordinate quality initiatives with manufacturing and management teams
Communicate quality concerns and performance results to leadership
Promote teamwork, accountability, and a quality-focused work environment
High School Diploma or GED required
Four-year degree or equivalent relevant work experience
Experience in supplier quality, quality assurance, or manufacturing quality operations
Strong understanding of incoming inspection and supplier quality processes
Knowledge of automotive quality management systems, including IATF 16949
Experience analyzing quality data and implementing corrective actions
Familiarity with supplier documentation and product approval processes
Strong leadership and employee development skills
Ability to manage quality KPIs and departmental performance
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with suppliers, manufacturing personnel, and management
Bilingual communication skills preferred
Experience in automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 automotive supplier environments
Experience with transmission, powertrain, or automotive component manufacturing
Familiarity with ISIR and 4M change management
Experience managing CKD supplier quality
Knowledge of engineering changes and product approval documentation
Experience with supplier corrective action processes
Familiarity with automotive warranty claims and CS10,000 quality metrics
Experience developing Cost of Quality reporting systems
Previous experience supervising quality assurance personnel
