Carrolton, Texas Direct Hire Jan 30, 2026 Engineering
Security Systems Designer
Why This Role
BueWorx is looking for a security systems designer who enjoys turning complex requirements into clear, buildable designs. You’ll work on meaningful projects that require thoughtful coordination, technical precision, and real-world problem solving, without being boxed into repetitive or purely production-based work.
If you take pride in clean drawings, well-organized documentation, and designs that make installation teams successful in the field, this role offers both challenge and stability.
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing physical security systems such as access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and structured cabling solutions.
Producing installation-ready CAD drawing packages that balance technical accuracy with practical constructability.
Organizing and maintaining drawing files, templates, and documentation so projects remain clean, consistent, and easy to execute.
Participating in site walks or surveys as needed to gather field conditions and validate design assumptions.
Collaborating with sales, project managers, technicians, and fellow designers to refine layouts and ensure systems work as intended before installation begins.
Updating as-installed drawings based on field markups and project closeout requirements.
Continuing to develop your technical knowledge of security platforms, products, and design best practices.
What Success Looks Like
Your designs are clear, accurate, and easy for installation teams to follow.
Projects move smoothly because potential conflicts are identified and addressed during design, not in the field.
Drawing standards and documentation practices improve over time because of your contributions.
You’re trusted as a technical partner by both project and sales teams.
What You Bring
Experience designing or supporting physical security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, structured cabling, or similar).
Comfort working in CAD-based design environments; AutoCAD experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret floor plans, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
The ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities without losing accuracy.
Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Experience & Background
Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, or related technical fields.
Familiarity with permitting processes and coordination with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) is helpful.
Prior exposure to Bluebeam and Microsoft Office tools is a plus.
Valid State of Texas license, where applicable.
Why Candidates Like This Role
A balance of independent design work and team collaboration
Exposure to varied projects instead of repetitive layouts
Opportunities to deepen technical expertise and refine design standards
A role where quality and accuracy are value, not just speed
